Principal's Message

Dear Southwest Middle School families,

I would like to recognize two of our Special Olympians who competed in the Special Olympics last Saturday.   Daniel Melo (on the left in the picture below) took second place for individual basketball skills for the 14 yrs. old age group and Javier Rivera Padilla (on the right) took first place for individual basketball skills for the 12 yrs. old age group. Congratulations, boys!

Our boys' basketball team is off to a hot start with victories over Carver Middle and Memorial Middle this past week.  They are currently undefeated!  Our girls are also playing solid basketball with a close game with Carver where they came a little short after making a big comeback during the game!  Our next game is here versus Windy Ridge next week starting at 5:30PM.  Please remember that students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend the games.  We hope to see you there cheering on our Basketball stars!
Next Thursday, counselors from Dr. Phillips High will be here meeting with our eighth-grade students zoned to attend there.  On Friday, Lake Buena Vista High counselors will have their second meeting with students zoned to attend there.
Next Wednesday is a regular day and not a short day.
Thank you for your continued support of Southwest Middle School, and remember, GO SEA LIONS!

-Mr. Raymond "Chuck" Yockel
Principal. Southwest Middle School
