+Mr. Yockel with Sammy the Sea Lion

Dear Southwest Middle School Families,

it was wonderful seeing several of band groups perform last night!  They sounded amazing!   I am looking forward to seeing our other band performers this upcoming Tuesday and Thursday.  I would like to recognize three of our students who competed in the county Special Olympics-

- Nasierr Hudson- First Place 50m Race, First Place Softball Throw

- Tyler Subramani-  Second Place 50m Race, Second place Softball Throw

- Esther Santos-Goncalves (girls division)- Third Place 50m Race, First Place Softball Throw

These students will now compete statewide Special Olympics.  We know they are going to great!

Our outstanding Student Council attended the virtual Florida Association of Student Council event.   Our Student Council was awarded the following honors-

- Gold for our Medallion Book- The Highest Honor!

- Evan Cervantes was the Florida Middle School Speech Winner!

- Our Student Council was the only middle school recognized as a Council of Merit for the State!

We are so proud of our Student Council!

Progress reports will be published to Family Access on Skyward April 29th.  Please be sure to review them with your child.

Thank you for your continued support of Southwest Middle School, and remember, GO SEA LIONS!

Chuck Yockel
