YMCA Summer Zone 2019

We are delighted to hear of your interest in your child joining our YMCA Summer Zone.  This year will be unique in a number of ways. Southwest MS and Gotha MS are both undergoing renovations to their schools. Therefore, both schools will combine their summer zones at Chain-of-Lakes Middle School for this summer. We offer many fun and exciting clubs for your child to be a part of during their time with us over summer. All our programming is done on Chain-of-Lakes’ campus. We are not affiliated with the Dr. Phillips family center down the street. We offer our own summer zone on campus for middle school-aged children.

Thanks to a grant from the Orange County Government and Orange County Mayor Demings, there is no cost for your child to attend. We open our doors at 8:00 am and our summer zone ends at 6:00 pm.  Your child must be picked up no later than 6:00 pm before late fees are assessed. You must submit a completed registration form in order for your child to attend. You can turn your completed registrations in to the front office at Southwest MS, Chain-of Lakes MS or Gotha MS. Once you turn in your registration form, you will be given a voucher booklet with tickets for each week of camp. You must submit your voucher ticket on the Wednesday prior to the week your child is attending. We can accept Week 1’s voucher when you submit your registration form.

Our YMCA Summer Zone is beyond comparable! Our campers will have an exciting time each day they attend. We offer rotations in the morning which consists of each camper going to Arts and Crafts, Summer Climb (Reading/Academics), Game Room, Athletics and/or other fun activities. Our afternoon clubs will consist of STEM, Dance/STEP, Team Sports, Photography/Journalism and Culinary Arts. Lunch will run from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Our school does offer each camper a free school breakfast and lunch. We do have many campers that bring their own lunch as well.

All campers should be within dress code according to OCPS policy. This means that shorts cannot exceed up past the longest finger when their arm is held by their side, shirts must be long enough to cover skin in the stomach region, tennis shoes must be worn at all times and no hats may be worn indoors. We also encourage our students to bring water bottles so they stay hydrated.

We will run the YMCA Summer Zone for 7 weeks. Each week we will attend a field trip. Below is our field trip schedule:

When filling out the registration form, please make sure to sign all applicable pages and list any person(s) that may be picking up your child over summer. We cannot accept phone calls from parents requesting that another person not listed on the registration form to pick up your child. This is a safety concern and there will be no exceptions!
